The juice is (almost) on at Pershing General Hospital! Yesterday about 30 people, including County Commissioner Roger Mancebo and Sheriff Ron Skinner, gathered to watch Matt Myntttinen of BRS and Hospital administrator Matt Reese cut the ribbon on the new 30kW array gifted to the hospital. It’s believed to be the largest solar array ever given away.

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, which covered the story, the array will provide almost half the hospital’s power needs, and provide them with $130,000 in free, green energy over the next 20 years. “It will save the hospital thousands of dollars annually, which represents dollars that can be invested in new medical equipment,” Reese said. “We’re also pleased because this is a green project so we are helping protect the environment.”

Congratulations to the entire crew that built the project: Richard, Eli , Matt, Drue, Quiet Dave, Insane, Doug, Niko, Jonathan, Dick Hughes, Samantha, Jonathan, Bill Brooks, and Joe Pizur.

Just how much power is there, anyway?

Photos just in from Mota from earlier today, where the crew was putting in panels on the install for the Pershing General Hospital, using a new, innovative, cost-saving clip design, inspired by the array on the playa this summer. Nice work!
