Oct 9: Breaking Ground

November 13th, 2007  |  Published in News

Hi everyone. Thanks again for your interest and participation in the Black Rock Solar project. Here’s the update for October 9th:

We are ready to break ground in Gerlach for the 90kw solar array that we are donating to the elementary and high school. This array is has more than 500 panels and is the size of ½ a football field. We will eliminate the school’s power bill, saving tens of thousands of dollars that can then be put towards teachers and materials. Look for photos from the work site soon!

Many of you have asked about work weekends, so we wanted to give you an update on how that’s looking. We are waiting for confirmation of delivery dates for some of the key materials, and had been targeting a work weekend for October 20-21. However, we will likely need to push that back pending those delivery dates. We will send out an update as soon as we get those confirmed, and appreciate your patience and understanding. These will be the largest solar arrays ever built to give away, and as with any big project being done for the first time, there are some unforeseen road bumps.

That said, it’s still our goal to get all these systems built and working before mid-November.

Again, thanks for your interest, and if you have questions don’t hesitate to zip me an email.

Thanks,

Mota
