Our latest project: Joe Crowley Student Union Building, UNR

Hey folks-
We’ve been offline for a couple months attending the Burning Man event in the Black Rock Desert, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy.
Just before the event we completed our fifth installation, this time of a 30 kilowatt array on the brand new Joe Crowley Student Union Building at the University of Nevada Reno Campus. This is a flagship building, built from the ground up with environmental consciousness in the design. They’d even built conduit for electrical cable from a solar array into the design, but weren’t able to afford to install it.
That’s where we came in. Over three weeks in August, our crew installed an array for the benefit of this premier educational facility, knowing that not only would the energy savings go to a good cause, but that the real time reporting from the array ( to be fed to monitors throughout the building ) would inspire students through first hand interaction to understand the benefits of renewable energy.
There will be a dedication event sometime in the next several weeks, we’ll be sure to let you know where and when.
Meanwhile, as people streamed north to this year’s Burning Man event, they got his little bit of eye candy waiting for them at the Natchez School:

It was our way of reminding people of what can happen when we join together for the common good. And speaking of good, isn’t that a good looking array? We think so, too.
We’re back at work now, getting our next few projects spun up, and look forward to telling you about them soon.
