We were surprised and delighted on Tuesday, just hours after the new President took office and pledged in his speech to “harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories,”

to get a little something in the mail from the Internal Revenue Service. Specifically, it was formal approval of Black Rock Solar as America’s newest non-profit group.

That means donations in support of our work are now tax deductible, so if for example someone was to buy one of our spiffy new Black Rock Solar Tshirts or Hoody’s ( so new we haven’t even loaded photos yet, give us a minute, but $15 or $30 each if you want one! ), they could write off the cost, and we in turn could use that money to help educate people about the benefits of solar, while helping build them some at low or no cost.

We’re thrilled to be a witness this new beginning for our country, and our world, and to be doing our little part to help be the change we want to see in the world.
