Nevada State College

Henderson, Nevada

“As NSC continues to expand in both square footage and enrollment, we’ve made a long-term commitment to increase our energy efficiency and to reduce our carbon footprint. The solar panels will assist with this goal while also providing the college a substantial cost savings.”

Buster Neel, the college’s Vice President of Finance and Administration

Nevada State College is a relatively new institution that provides affordable public higher education to a diverse and largely under-served student population. To better facilitate this education, Black Rock Solar installed a 206 kilowatt solar array that will provide 30 percent of the power to the Liberal Arts building.

Those savings are projected to be $28,000 annually, or $700,000 over 25 years. That’s money that can be reinvested in NSC’s educational programs. The solar panels will also serve as teaching tools for students in environmental sciences, who will monitor energy output and calculate savings for class projects.
