One of our first projects in Southern Nevada also happens to be an organization we can really believe in. The Shade Tree is a unique shelter for women, children and their pets who are escaping domestic violence and other difficulties. This fantastic organization helps families stay together while they start their new lives.
Black Rock Solar conducted extensive fundraising to help The Shade Tree fund a new carport structure, then installed a 31.1 kW photovoltaic array across the carport and two adjacent roofs. This unique project caught the attention of Groupon Grassroots, who featured it as part of their Earth Day philanthropy campaign, and provided a $1,500 donation to help bring the project to fruition. All in all, it’s been a wonderful community effort, and we’re pleased that The Shade Tree now has a little more shade — and a lowered utility bill to help them continue their work.
