“Our mission statement says, “High Desert strives to be part of a socially conscious and green community by inspiring all to be critical thinkers capable of reflection, communication and action.” With the $30,000 in yearly savings we will see from this project, our middle school program is planning to build an on-site garden which will provide organic vegetables for our culinary program.”

Montessori schools are known for their commitment to encouraging sustainability, and High Desert Montessori Charter School has demonstrated this commitment in a huge way with the addition of a 210-kW carport array.
Replacing a well-worn asphalt parking lot with a series of carport covers blanketed with 780 photovoltaic panels, High Desert Montessori will now have shaded parking and will be saving about $30,000 a year on its utility bill!
High Desert Montessori is a public charter school that provides free Montessori education to about 400 students from infant/toddler and is expanding through the 9th grade.
