Juniper Village low-income apartment complex will do more than offer affordable housing to those in need. It will also model a strong eco-friendly building ethic.
As part of this effort, Black Rock Solar installed a 116-panel, 30-kW roof-mount array on the property in January 2015. This array will help the Northern Nevada Community Housing Resource Board keep rents lower for the residents by offsetting approximately 15 percent of the total electric consumption at the site.
At the corner of East Fifth Street and Morrill Avenue near Wells Avenue, the 44-unit apartment complex also features state of the art energy efficient heating and cooling systems, upgraded insulation and EnergyStar rated appliances and fixtures.
The $5.7 million project is expected to open for tenants in Spring 2015.
