Lake Mead Christian Academy

“‘LMCA Going Green with Black Rock Solar’ has been a great experience all the way around. We are so grateful for their hard work and the extremely gifted people that were working with LMCA to lower our energy bill. This has been an exciting experience and has proven to be a conversation piece for many of our families.”

Benjamin “BJ” Blakeley , LMCA Director of Resource Development

Enhancing education programs and instilling renewable energy values in children are core values for Black Rock Solar, so building a 102 kW array for Lake Mead Christian Academy was a natural fit.

With the help of a NV Energy rebate, Black Rock Solar built a 384-panel roof-top photovoltaic array for LMCA at no cost to the school. The school will save nearly $10,000 a year in utility costs. That’s thousands of dollars that can go directly back to educational programs for children.

LMCA began with 24 students and four staff members in 1989. It is the first and oldest kindergarten through 12th grade private school in Henderson. In 1995, LMCA was the recipient of 5.6 acres of land. Two major building projects fully built out the campus with over 60,000 square feet of permanent buildings that include more than 40 classrooms and offices, along with a commercial cafeteria, full service coffee shop, gymnasium and maintenance building.

Black Rock Solar is proud to have helped bring renewable energy to this Nevada educational institution.
