Helping people learn about how to be part of the solar energy industry is part of our mission–it’s why whenever possible we create training opportunities and hands-on learning opportunities at our installations.

That education process for us had to start at home, with our own team. Starting from scratch and learning along the way, we’re proud that now all of our crew are licensed by OSHA as Certified Solar Installers in the state of Nevada.

And today, we’re incredibly proud to announce that two of our team, Dick Hughes and Doug Drummond, have taken and passed their North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners ( NABCEP ) exam, the platinum standard for solar installers.  There are only 1,000 of them nationwide….make that 1,002!

Dick is returning to work with us on upcoming projects, while Doug has moved home to Denver to work in the solar industry there.

To put this in context, consider this: according to NABCEP, there are only nine NABCEP-certified installers in the state of Nevada, and one of them is our PV Supervisor and System Designer Joe Pizur.   So with the addition of Dick, we now have 20% of the top rated installers statewide working for Black Rock Solar, making us among the most highly certified installers statewide.
