Growing the Green Collar Economy in Nevada

December 8th, 2009  |  Published in News

Last week we hosted a unique, perhaps even unprecedented event. Taking a break from the installation of the new solar project at the Food Bank, we organized a lunch meeting that brought together designers, architects, developers, bankers, politicians, government officials, building inspectors, regulators, and finance experts, all with one goal in mind: how to grow the solar industry in Nevada.

We started off with a tour of the Food Bank, led by their Executive Director Cherie Jameson:

We then had a lunch presentation, where folks from BRS, NV Energy, and a solar financing expert explained the opportunities available now with the convergence of incentives from the utility and the stimulus package. Afterwards, while some swapped business cards and talked about how they could work together ( like this contractor on the left, talking to two bankers on the right ):

Others grabbed a hard hat, and took a tour of the rooftop installation:

We’ve heard nothing but great feedback from people who participated, and appreciated the opportunity to meet with so many others from such diverse backgrounds, but all with a similar goal.  Thanks again to everyone who participated, and a special thanks to Marnee Benson of Black Rock Solar for putting together such a great event.
